The white-flowered tree mallow is an annual flower whose beauty will attract attention of many gardeners. This branching plant develops stiff erect stems. The white cup-shaped flowers that are 7 to 10 cm wide appear from July to October. They complement perennial borders and seasonal arrangements well. The impressive 60 to 100 cm tall plants constitute a great source of excellent, durable cut flowers. They guarantee the attractive appearance of bouquets and arrangements for up to 14 days. The tree mallows are also considered melliferous plants that are attractive to bees and butterflies. Despite its noblesse and beauty, tree mallow is easy to grow. It grows quickly and does not require much care.
Tree mallow can be grown from seedlings and direct sow. The seeds can be sown into containers on a windowsill or in greenhouses from mid March to April. Should you choose to sow directly onto beds, you would need to wait until end of April and beginning of May. The seedlings should be thinned in order to provide them with the sufficient space for development. Plant them every 20 to 30 cm apart.
Choose sunny and partially shady sites for tree mallow cultures. A fertile soil that is rich in humus and nutrients proves to provide the optimal conditions for tree mallows. This plant requires frequent watering and regular fertilization with flowering plant fertilizers.
One package contains 1 grams of the white-flowered tree mallow. The basic cultivation instructions and the sow-by date were printed on the back of the package.
