Kohlarabi "Delikates Blauer" (Brassica oleracea convar. acephala var. Gongylodes) is one of the few varieties with violet stems. Grown for late harvest, it can be stored over the winter, providing valuable vitamins (particularly vitamin C), minerals and fibre in the difficult cold days. Its round, large, tender and crispy stems taste great cooked, although they can also be stuffed and added to soups and roasts. Young leaves and undeveloped stems are eaten in salads. Flesh of the presented variety does not tend to become pithy.

Seeds of the late "Delikates Blauer" variety are sown in spring and summer, depending on the projected harvest time. Plants sown early provide delicious stems already in June, while the kohlrabis intended for storing are harvested in September and October. In order for the plant to fully develop its crop-yielding potential you should offer it a sunny site with permeable, medium heavy, moist soil rich in organic matter.

Each package contains 2 g of "Delikates Blauer" kohlrabi seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
